Special Advisor to the Principal: Dr. Ge Weikun. Dr. Ge graduated from Peking University and the University of Manchester (Ph.D, UK). He is an expert in semiconductor physics, and spin electronics. He served as Deputy Director of the Institute of Semiconductor Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor of the Condensed Matter Physics Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor at the University of Dartmouth, Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Professor of Sun Yat-sen University, and Professor of Tsinghua University. Dr. Ge has 25 years of overseas teaching and research experience. He is now Professor Emeritus of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Professor at Tsinghua University, and Research Project Advisor at Peking University.
Middle School Director and Science Coordinator: Liu Yangqiu. Dr. Liu earned her Ph.D. in biochemistry engineering from Tsinghua University, and has done scientific research and technological work for nearly two decades. She deeply understands the difference between Chinese and foreign science education, and believes that cultivating children's scientific literacy is very important. As the Science Coordinator, she will bring a unique perspective to lead the children to open the door to science, experience the fun of science, master the scientific way of thinking about the world.
Greg Savage,Mathematics and science teacher.
Mr. Savage graduated from the University of Queensland, Australia (B.S. in science; M.A. in education). Greg has over 30 years of experience in science and mathematics teaching. He has worked in boarding schools, private schools and public schools. He uses a variety of teaching methods to engage and encourage students. He built a bridge between Chinese and western cultures between himself and his students, and this bridge has benefited all who are involved. In his spare time he enjoys reading, listening to music and hiking.
Candy Chang,Science Lab technician.
Ms. Chang graduated from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics with a Master’s degree in Materials Chemistry. Her research has focused on biological detection and Nano-materials synthesis. She has published articles on the SCI-indexed magaine RSC Advances: “Colorimetric Detection of HVA by self-assembly of Au Nano-rods with DNA Double Helix Side-by-side, End-to-end Structures” as a first author, and on SCI-indexed magazine ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces: “Gold Nano-disks arrays for localized surface Plasmon resonance based detection of PSA cancer markers” as a second author. Her hobbies include Japanese and anime. She has established a Japanese language club, which received multiple awards as an excellent club.
Science teacher Ms. Liu Qiuting with English name Autumn, science assistant, graduated as MA from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, major in biology. She mainly focuses on studying on . With open and optimistic personality, she likes running, Yoga and be good at making handcrafts. She has been working hard and focusing on details. She loves to stay with the kids and trust each kid is an angel for the teacher to love.
Xu An，Science Teacher
Mr. Xu graduated from the Renmin University, and has been teaching physics at Tsinghua University High School. He is experienced in teaching and is familiar with both Chinese & western teaching. He is conscientious and responsible, loves his career in education and enjoys being a teacher.
Chris Almich, the Science teacher. He attended California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics. While in Shanghai he earned his Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on literacy.
He is an enthusiastic teacher with a passion for learning. In science he has embraced a hands-on approach to teaching and firmly believe that students learn best when they learn by doing. By creating inquiry-based lessons he hopes to develop critical thinking skills in his students that extend into all areas of their lives.
His hobbies include hiking, camping, meditating, stargazing, and playing guitar.
